• Royal Flush - This is a straight flush with an Ace as the high card. Getting a royal flush is like finding a pearl in a clam or pulling a 4 leaf clover off the bottom of your shoes.



• Straight Flush - A straight with all five cards of the same suit. Many players agree that a straight flush is the sneakiest of all poker hands.



• Four of a Kind - Four cards of the same rank. (Example) a hand where you hold four Aces. Many beginners and novice players mistakenly think that 4 of a kind is the highest hand when in fact it is the third highest. Still, Four of a kind usually wins any table.



• Full House - Any three cards of one rank plus any two cards of another rank makes a full house. Full house is themost common of the highest hands in the game... especially in Texas Holdem and Omaha Poker games.



• Flush - Five cards of the same suit. A common mistake for beginners is thinking that a straight beats a flush when in fact a flush is the higher hand.



• Straight - A hand with five consecutive cards like 2,3,4,5,6. An Ace can be high or low. When you compare two players with a straight, the straight with the highest card in it wins. Remember, any straight does NOT beat a flush of any kind.



• Three of a Kind, 3 of a Kind, Trips - This is when you have three (3) cards of the same rank. 3 of a kind is a much stronger hand when you are playing draw poker than higher action games like texas holdem and omaha. Remember when you are at a table and there is action late in a hand, chances are someone will beat your three of a kind or they would not be betting with the exception of someone trying to bluff everyone you out.



• Two Pair - Any two cards of one rank plus two cards of another rank.



• Pair - Two cards of the same rank.



• Highest Card - If there is nothing better, the highest card wins.
